In this message Pastor Joel explores how honour—or the lack of it—can make or break our families and relationships.

Using the story of the Rekabites from Jeremiah 35, we see a family who honored their forefather's commands for generations, living as nomads and abstaining from wine. God contrasted them with Judah, who repeatedly ignored His voice. One group lived in blessing; the other faced disaster.

Honor means recognizing someone's value and treating them as significant. In Hebrew, it means "heavy" or "weighty." In Greek, it means "precious" or "valuable." When we truly honor God, we become people who honor others—parents, children, spouses, siblings, and even those who've hurt us.

The promise is simple but profound: "Those who honor me I will honor" (1 Samuel 2:30). When we choose to honor God and others—even when it's difficult—we invite His favor into our homes and families.
